For senior journalism major, Lacy Scarbrough, one of the first people on the scene of the shooting of a popular anthropology professor by his female graduate assistant, this incident opens her eyes the often whispered about subject of sexual relationships between faculty and students. But like the weather, although this topic is often acknowledged, very little is ever done about it. She quickly comes to see this affair like a course blurb in semester class catalogue; there?s much more to such relationships all across campus than most people suspect. In a series of stories for the campus newspaper, Lacy explores what she?s learned. First there?s the impact of the professor?s affair?s on his wife and daughter, and then the impact on the reputation of the university as well as other students and faculty not directly involved. Lacy also uncovers the twisted history of the young graduate assistant and her politically powerful father, the back story of the rising academic star of the professor, and finally she becomes involved with the subject in a way she never imagined. After exposing all the damages and destruction faculty-student affairs produce, Lacy discovers she has fallen in love with her married journalism advisor.
