Being reasonable

Do you know what freedom is? How about democracy? What are good and evil and where did they originate? These sound like simple questions until you try and explain them to someone. Do you think you are a racist? If the answer is "No" you might have to think again. Did you know that after hundreds of millennia the meaning of life has just changed - in the last generation - aren't we lucky. Can humanity survive without the threat of war? I'm going to explain why we can't. Are you your own person or are you controlled by genetic and cultural programming? Do you really want to know? What is the real difference between Capitalism and Socialism, or Free Trade and Free Enterprise? It may depend on where you are from (or, perhaps, your programming). What are the big hoops we must jump through to move safely into the future - and I don't mean distant future? And, finally, can we depend on those in power to make the right decisions for us - and, if not, why? You can't change anything until you know what the problem is and in many cases and for many reasons we don't know what is at the heart of our problems. We have been taught to believe in people and ideals that may not exist and when these beliefs are in conflict with others we are confused and angry.
