Historian David Marcus spent his entire life studying one single day. In 2010, the prime minister of Israel was assassinated in what was dubbed the "Longest Day in History." The events that followed were linear, ominous and unstoppable. Never before has the new interconnected world participated in such a global crisis. As each event was reported, literally billions of people were online reading, viewing and blogging about the events with reports keeping everyone of the worlds citizens up to the minute. Everyone saw it coming, and it was just a matter of time before the next event unfolded?Almost simultaneously in the world across every language, it was reported online that the tension had risen to the point of nuclear retaliation. People simply stared and waited.The world's infrastructures, and the governments that created them, were all but destroyed. The controversial weapons of mass destruction so often discussed in nightly news reports left behind the total destruction of our planet. Major cities were simply a wasteland of rubble, and smaller rural areas were reduced to ash. But the worst was yet to come. The fallout all but killed any remaining wildlife and our lush planet was no more.There were very few survivors left after the first 48 hours, and nearly none after the first 10 days. Those few pockets of people who managed to band together survived by retreating underground finding shelter and humble food supplies. Decades later mankind proved once again to be a resilient species and re-mastered agriculture allowing them to control their environment. Soon after trade and commerce were occurring once again and humanity finally began to grow beyond a small pocket of people. These new sovereign entities, affectionately called Clusters, consisted of dozens to hundreds of people and there was once again the aspiration for growth and achievement. Once the foundation was laid, we began developing methods of transportation, communication and soon many major Clusters reformed a new Internet. Life was re-established, but we never forgot the "Longest Day in History".Life existed for decades before a major break thorough occurred. After years of looking to the stars for a new planet, scientists found that is was possible for one-way time travel through a rift in our solar system. Instead of finding a new world, what if a team was able to stop the "Longest Day in History"? What if we could go back in time to save our planet? A team of elite soldiers, led by Lt. Jack Cody and Lt. Brask, were put together to prevent the nuclear apocalypse. As the world's leading historical authority, Marcus is asked to join. Meek and feckless, Marcus would rather study the actions of great men in history than take action, but he reluctantly signs on. The team moves fluidly and Jack demonstrates why he's the best he is at what he does. After getting through enemy lines undetected, Marcus identifies the assassin that set forth the events leading to the Fall, but the team quickly realizes that something is wrong. Jack and his team follow the assassin to a U.S. Military complex and the assassin blows himself up on a suicide run. Unsure now of the assassin's identity, and unsure of whether they've changed the future, the team goes to the room where the assassins shot was fired. Before they get to the room the team takes gunfire from numerous soldiers. After an intense shootout, Jack and his victorious team close in past the dead soldiers to the room. Marcus goes through the weapons, and soldiers, and realizes that they are U.S. troops. It was their own government that initiated the Third World War.Lt. Brask, shoots Jack in the back of the head killing him instantly. The old government policies and powers are still found embedded within the Clusters, and Brask and two other members were planted on the team to hide the truth that back in 2010 the U.S. military killed the prime minister and framed terrorists in order to gain support for its Middle East policies. During Jack's execution, Marcus and two other soldiers manage to escape Brask's team, but Brask is determined to cover up the fact that the US military was behind the operation. With no one to turn to, and with elite soldiers hunting Marcus, Marcus realizes he is all that is left to stop his government from initiating WWW III.Marcus realizes that 'this attempt' on the prime minister was thwarted, but he knows they will try again and quickly as Israel is becoming more sovereign. Marcus' group manage to get close to the prime minister, and spot Brask's team who now have a sniper rifle sited to follow through with the assassination. Marcus runs through the crowd creating panic and a cover for the prime minister. Brask, frustrated aims at Marcus and just as Israeli soldiers break down the door to Brask's team, shoots Marcus in the chest spinning him like a top.
