Short story by Charles Skinner named ?The Knell at the Wedding? rises the problem of marriage in United States in the end of 19-th century. In spite of the fact that the story happened definitely many years ago, echo of this is frequently met nowadays. Probably more often than it seems to be. In the story a young New Yorker had to marry his love, but for one fine morning his lady went to church with another gentlemen. And the reason was clear as a piece of cake. The elderly man was rich. But only after forty years they met again and could talk to each other with pure hearts, without ideas of money and wealth. They were talking about lost years of love.
