Unlikely journey, an

Suspense, intrigue, humor and introspection all combine to make this well-written tale, framed in quasi-Indian Jones genre, difficult to put down. Shortly after transferring to the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory on the Big Island, geologist Dr. Fred Sager learns that a seemingly innocent project is being used to mask a top-secret plan by the military under the Clinton Administration. If carried out, mass death and destruction will follow. A dangerous field trip on the active Kilauea volcano sends Fred on an unlikely journey. He returns with information that could derail the diabolical plan, but the myriad layers of bureaucrats within the government refuse to listen to his story, and time is running out.
